ELGIN—Hot off the news wire: A deal has been finalized to bring Chicago Cubs ace Carlos Zambrano to pitch for the Chicago Bandits. Zambrano will be stepping into the pitchers circle on June 26 for the Bandits as they take on the Venezuelan Olympic team.
With an 8-1 record and 57 strikeouts as of June 5, Big-Z will do his best to laser one down the middle of the plate for the ceremonial first pitch to kick things off for the June 26 game. Zambrano, a native of Venezuela, will be stepping away from the ivy filled walls, blue and white pinstripes, and bleacher bums of the friendly confines for a day and onto the newly built Bandits Stadium at Judson University in Elgin, Ill. Watch as he rockets the first pitch down the pipe on June 26 for the Bandits.
